I feel this would be an interesting topic to write about because I have always wondered why it never happened in the first place. It would (in my mind) benefit our economy in many ways. There is no doubt that there are certain reasons this has yet to happen, but I do not know what those reasons are...yet.

My SECOND possible topic that I would like to research is, Should recycling be mandatory in the U.S.? I think that this topic would be interesting to write about due to the amount of people I see on a day-to-day basis throwing recyclable items into the trash. I want to know what a difference it would make in our country if trashing recyclable items became illegal. I know it would help our country be "greener", but I want to know how much it would actually impact the country we live in.

My THIRD and final possible topic that I would like to research is, How much of an effect did the media have in Barack Obama's presidential victory? This is my the topic that I find most interesting. I did a report last year on the medias effect on steroid use and it was very interesting. I heard a news anchor talk a while back and ask the question, how can a man with so little political backround make it so far in this race? I as well would like to find out why, and my personal feelings are that the media played a huge part in Obamas' victory.

Research assignment nightmare...

Throughout my history of papers which consist of doing a lot of intensive research there is one thing that I fear...BOREDOM. Having to sit down in the library reading hundreds of books that make you want to scream at the top of your lungs is just plain awful. I can remember during my senior year of high school we had to write a 10-page research paper. We were given by the teacher a list of 25 research topics. There were 25 kids in my English class so the teacher went in alphabetical order and you had to pick a topic that no one else had. My last name begins with a B so I thought to myself, "awesome next class I get to pick something that actually sounds interesting." Well the next day I guess my body felt that it was necessary to be sick. When I returned to school a week later I went up to my teacher and asked her what was left well, lucky me I got to research the "No Child Left Behind" act, passed by Pres. Bush in 2001 and find out whether it was beneficial to our education system. As you could imagine I was not looking forward to this at all. I spent the next 2 weeks sleeping in the library, barely dulling the tip of my pencil with notes. So to sum it up the boredom factor will play a huge role in researching the topic I selected.

Ideas for Research Topic...

At this current moment I am considering a couple topics to research. The deciding factor will be which topic will have the most information available to research. For example I most likely will not be researching the benefits of sleeping in the nude...not saying I am not pondered by this but I do not think I will be finding enough info on this to type a 5 page paper. So far I have a total of 3 topics that I would like to research. The first one that I came across is, should the U.S. eliminate or restrict importing foreign made vehicles? The reason I feel this one would be interesting is by doing so we would help out the American companies which in return would benefit our economy by increasing our employment rate and keeping our hard earned dollars inside the U.S. Although I find this topic interesting, it might become boring over time. The second research topic I came across is, should recycling be mandatory in the U.S.? In the U.S. everyone knows how wasteful we are so I feel that this topic would be interesting by finding out how "green" we COULD be if this were to happen. The last and my personal favorite research topic I came up with is, how much of an effect did the media play in Barack Obama's presidential victory? I feel this topic would be very interesting due to the fact that we just elected Obama to be our 44th president and my major here at Edinboro is in the communications department. Well that is all that has come to mind so far, I will be doing some researching to come to a conclusion as to which topic I will choose.

Previous Research Experience...

All the way until I hit my college years I absolutely despised researching topics that I wanted nothing to do with. All throughout high school we were assigned stupid topics like should college be free... well lets think about this... YES! if somebody seriously needs to take 2-weeks to reach a final answer as to why education should be free well, they probably are the defining cause as to why college is not free, because they would be sending idiots like that to Harvard or Princeton and getting nothing in return. When my college years started the one thing I heard from everybody was get ready for a lot of papers. I took English 101 my first semester and when my professor told us that we were going to be assigned a 5+ page research paper I was waiting for him to tell us we had to choose from a list of topics...but he didn't, we got to choose whatever we wanted to write about which was awesome. I chose to write about steroids and why they should be restricted differently. It was pretty fun surprisingly...ya I said it, it was fun. So to wrap it up research papers use to suck but now I actually enjoy learning about stuff that makes me ponder and say to myself "hmmmm?"
